Claude Monet rented a house in Argenteuil, which lies on the banks of the Seine in 1871. The years he lived there, from 1871 - 1877, marked the advent of the Impressionist group. These were also years of tremendous financial hardship for Monet. Monet, however, continued to work outdoors and render his impressions of color and light on nature's beauty, as can be seen in this lovely view of his garden. |
